Unconventional Methods

Why?

Even though conversations surrounding mental health are happening more frequently, we know that there are still a lot of barriers that prevent individuals from getting the mental health care and support that they need.

That’s why not only do we provide mental health therapy sessions to those without access, we also find fun and immersive ways of teaching people how to care for their mental health.

Additionally, by taking our therapists off the couch, out of the office, and inviting them to participate in events alongside our audience, we’re tackling one of the biggest reported fears people have when it comes to getting therapy—the fear of being judged by their therapist.

Kendal has her Master’s Degree in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. She also holds a Bachelor Degree from the University of Alabama in Psychology. She is currently a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Alabama and Florida. She specializes in children/adolescents and families. She provides individual, family, and group therapy.
Kendal believes in a collaborative and strength/resource based approach to therapy. She works WITH her clients to pinpoint the strengths and resources they are using or have used in the past that assisted them in getting where they want to be. She wants her clients to feel heard and to know that their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are valid even if it’s not very efficient at times. She also believes that therapy is not a “one size fits all” situation, so she tailors her sessions with the appropriate therapeutic approach and techniques that could be the most beneficial. Some of these approaches range from Play and/or Art Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, or MRI.
